​Baklawa

The most ancient tales of baklawa are found in the notebooks of the imperial kitchens of the Topkapi Palace, in Istanbul (Turkey). Baklava was elaborated by the sultan's confectioners in 1473 and he was totally conquered by it. to define it inevitable in any ritual that marks an important passage in life, from

birth to marriage. At the height of the Ottoman Empire, the Turkish sultans and their harems appreciated for its alleged aphrodisiac qualities – cinnamon for women, cardamom for men and cloves for both.

 

Despite the innovations in baklava production, one thing has never changed: the value of a kilo of baklava always corresponds to that of a gram of gold '. The Arab influence introduced rose water and orange blossom water walnuts, pistachios and sugar or honey syrup
